Gilmer County Schools

School Choice will open on June 1, 2026.

The Gilmer County School System (GCSS) offers Public School Choice in compliance with House Bill 251 (2009) and Board Policy JBCCA. Parents or guardians may choose for their child to attend another public school within the district, as long as space is available after the initial enrollment period. Please note that families are responsible for providing transportation to and from the selected school. The district may deny transfer requests based on limited capacity. A list of schools with available space will be posted on the GCSS website by May 15, 2026.

Families may complete the online School Choice survey on the district website beginning June 1, 2026. Paper applications will also be available for pickup at the GCSS Administration and Technology Office. All surveys and applications must be submitted between June 1 and July 20, 2026, to be considered for placement. After the application window closes, eligible applications will be reviewed based on school preference. Important Information for Parents:
If you completed School Choice for your child(ren) last year, you do not need to reapply. However, you must submit a request for any siblings who are not currently participating in School Choice (including current Pre-K students). Once approved, students may remain at their selected school through fifth grade, before transitioning to Clear Creek Middle School for sixth grade.
